During the SMT patch processing production process, problems in the entire PCBA manufacturing process or use can lead to abnormal work or even poor product performance. In such cases, repair and maintenance of the circuit board inside may be necessary, as many products don't require complete replacements.

At our patch processing plant, maintenance technicians perform the following operations:

1. Component Check: When a product needs repair, the first step is to determine whether the components of each solder joint have errors, omissions, inversions, or authenticity issues. Checking whether the circuit board is intact, whether each component is burned out, or not plugged in is also important.

2. Analysis of Welding Status: 80% of circuit board defects are solder joint defects. The technicians refer to the management standards of the ISO9001 quality system and various SMT processing and welding quality standards to check for visual defects like false welding, false welding, short circuits and lifted copper skin.

3. Detection of Component Orientation: After eliminating some defects that are visible to the naked eye, diodes, electrolytic capacitors, and other commonly used components are checked to ensure they are inserted in the right direction.

4. Tool Inspection of Components: If visual judgments don't reveal any problems, auxiliary tools such as a multimeter are used to measure resistance, capacitance, transistor, and other components. The most important thing to check is whether the resistance values of these components are normal, whether the capacitance is open, whether the inductance is open, and so on.

5. Power-On Test: After completing all the above processes, the conventional problems of the components are eliminated. The technicians turn on the power to check whether the corresponding function of the circuit board is normal.

After completing all the processes, the customer’s BOM and Gerber are eliminated, and schematic diagrams are used to judge and repair the defects of the customer’s products. Technicians in our maintenance department are carefully selected from the workshop.
