In general, standard SMT reflow soldering machines have eight temperature zones, although some machines with several temperature zones are also used depending on the products being soldered and the considerations of the manufacturer. More temperature zones generally result in a better soldering effect, especially if the circuit board has high soldering quality requirements. The most common SMT reflow soldering machine in the market is one with eight temperature zones.
Temperature zones for lead-free solder paste SMT reflow soldering are typically divided into preheating, constant temperature, recirculation, and cooling zones. But what are the differences between these temperature zones, and what are their respective temperature standards?
Temperature zone standard for SMT reflow soldering
1. Preheating Zone: The temperature is raised to 175 degrees, and the time is about 100 seconds to achieve the heating rate of the preheating zone.
2. Constant Temperature Zone: The high temperature is about 200 degrees, and the time is 80 seconds, with a difference between high and low temperatures of 25 degrees.
3. Recirculation Zone: The high temperature is 245 degrees, the low temperature is 200 degrees, and it takes about 35 seconds to reach the desired temperature. The heating rate is 1.3 degrees per second. However, this temperature curve may take too long to reach the value, and the entire reflow time is about 60 seconds.
4. Cooling Zone: The cooling zone takes approximately 100 seconds, and the temperature drops from 245 degrees to about 45 degrees. The cooling speed is 2 degrees per second.
The temperature settings for the eight temperature zones of SMT reflow soldering are 160°C in the first zone, 180°C in the second zone, 185°C in the third and fourth zones, 210°C in the fifth zone, 250°C in the sixth and eighth zones, and 275°C in the seventh zone. However, the temperature settings need to be adjusted according to the temperature curve reference given by the solder paste manufacturer and the actual production situation.
The temperature settings of the eight temperature zones of SMT reflow soldering are not fixed and can be flexibly adjusted. However, the adjustment needs to be determined according to the quality of the SMT solder paste, the actual product being soldered, and the SMT reflow soldering machine. Therefore, this article is only for reference and not a fixed temperature zone temperature standard.
