There are four types of PCB flexible circuit boards: single-sided, double-sided, multi-layer flexible boards and rigid-flex boards.
1) Single-sided flexible boards are cost-effective when high electrical performance is not required. They have a layer of chemically etched conductive patterns on the surface of the flexible insulating substrate, rolled copper foil, and can be made of materials such as polyimide, polyethylene terephthalate, aramid, and polyvinyl chloride.
2) Double-sided flexible boards have conductive patterns on both sides of the insulating base film. Metalized holes connect the patterns on both sides, and a cover film indicates component placement.
3) Multi-layer flexible boards laminate single-sided or double-sided flexible circuit boards together, form metalized holes through drilling and electroplating, and create conductive paths between different layers. They offer higher reliability, better thermal conductivity, and easier assembly performance.

4) Traditional rigid-flex boards are composed of rigid and flexible substrates selectively laminated together. They are suitable when components are on both the front and back of the board.

This method is inherently clean, uses lead-free SMT adhesives, and does not require etching. It is especially suitable for control panels of devices as well as mobile phones and portable products.
5) PCB flexible circuit boards of mixed structure have a multi-layer board with conductive layers composed of different metals. This kind of hybrid structure is mostly used in low-temperature situations where the relationship between electrical signal conversion heat conversion and electrical performance is relatively harsh.
