Electrostatic protection plays a critical role in the PCBA fabrication process. Electronic components can be successfully protected by practicing proper electrostatic protection.
Electrostatic Discharge: What Is It?
An electrical charge at rest is known as electrostatic discharge, or ESD. Rubber and plastic film surface electrostatic can reach up to 100,000 volts, whereas human electrostatic momentary current can exceed 10,000 volts.
Attraction and repulsion are the fundamental physical characteristics of static electricity, and a potential difference in the earth causes a discharge current.
There are many precision electronic components on PCBA board, and many components are sensitive to voltage. Shocks higher than the rated voltage will damage these components. However, PCBA boards damaged by static electricity are difficult to investigate step by step during functional testing. What's more deadly is that some PCBA boards function normally during the test, but when the finished product is used by the customer, there are occasional defects, which brings great after-sales dangers and affects the company's brand and goodwill. Therefore, in the PCBA processing process, we must attach great importance to ESD protection.
1. PCBA processing methods to strictly control ESD protection are as follows:
2. Make sure that the temperature and humidity of the workshop are within the standard range, 22-28 degrees Celsius, and humidity 40%-70%
3. All employees must discharge static electricity when entering and leaving the workshop
4. Dress as required, wear static cap, static clothes, and static shoes
5. All stations that need to touch the PCBA board must wear a rope static ring, and connect the rope static ring to the static alarm
6. The static wire is separated from the equipment ground wire to prevent the equipment from leaking electricity and cause damage to the PCBA board
7. All the static frame racks of turnover vehicles must be connected to the static ground wire
8. Conduct ESD electrostatic spot inspection in strict accordance with ISO quality management requirements
Static electricity is invisible and intangible during the production process, and it is often inadvertently causing fatal risks to PCBA circuit boards, and the cost of PCBA troubleshooting is very high. Therefore, each factory manager must strictly pay attention to ESD static management, so that the PCBA processing process can be completely controlled.
During the production process, static electricity is imperceptible and unseen, and it frequently poses a devastating concealed risk to PCBA circuit boards. PCBA troubleshooting is highly expensive. To ensure total quality control over the PCBA processing process, factory managers need to closely monitor ESD static management.
Al right, I think everyone has read the sharing mentioned above and is aware of how crucial ESD protection is when processing PCB assemblies. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any needs regarding PCB assembly processing. Thank you!
